BORDA Tanzania facilitated a three days’ workshop (30.10.18 – 01.11.18) on operation and maintenance (O&M) of DEWATS in Dar es Salaam. Current and future owners, managers and operators of DEWATS used for wastewater or faecal sludge treatment came together to share their practical experiences and to receive training on operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. The represented DEWATS are operating in different arrangements like:
1. Private household systems (Single household connections as well as housing complexes)
2. Institutional systems (e.g. schools and hospitals)
3. Public FSM systems (owned by municipalities or public water utilities)
During the workshop, the O&M of DEWATS was presented and discoursed theoretically, as well as demonstrated practically on site (at the BORDA office, at CCBRT hospital and at Kigamboni FSTP, Dar es Salaam). The workshop also gave space for discussing crucial topics as solutions for solid waste and biogas utilization options.
We thank all participants for their active engagement!
