At the Wailes / Likwati Primary Schools in Temeke Municipality, Dar es Salaam the construction of the DEWATS treating faecal sludge is proceeding fast. By now, 50% of the construction is already completed. The construction is part of the UKAID "Human Development Innovation Fund” (HDIF) funded project “DEWATS for Dar es Salaam”. The system will generate biogas for cooking, to be connected to a kitchen in the nearby school for special-needs students, and treated wastewater will be used for irrigation of a banana plantation.
This is the second DEWATS constructed within this project. The first DEWATS is located in Mburahati, in Ubungu Municipality and is already completed.
